Abstract. The feasibility of detecting of Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in single maize kernel inoculated with Aspergillus flavus conidia in the field, as well as its spatial distribution in the kernels, was assessed using hyperspectral imaging technique. Firstly, an image mask and band selection were applied to image to remove background, shading, color and parts of shape information of kernels. Secondly a PCA-inverse PCA procedure followed by a n-dimensional visualization method, that is the selection method of typical pixel, was carried out, then the selected two classes of end members were taken as the input data of SAM classifier to separate the aflatoxin infection and clean kernels. Finally, using the other 12 kernels the repeatability was verified.
