Optimization of dry cell weight production of Scenedesmus sp. cultivation in biogas effluent using response surface methodology

Abstract. Response surface methodology (RSM) based on a central composite design (CCD) was applied to optimize the effect of additive volume of Citric Acid combined with Ferric, K2HPO4, and MgSO4•7H2O for the DCW production from Scenedesmus sp. Regression analysis was performed on the data obtained. The F-test and p value indicated that the quadratic term of additive volume of K2HPO4 had the largest effect on the biomass accumulation of algae, followed by the interaction of additive volume of Citric Acid combined with Ferric, K2HPO4, and the quadratic of additive volume of MgSO4•7H2O. The optimal DCW of Scenedesmus sp. cultivation in biogas effluent were obtained at the additive volume of Citric Acid combined with Ferric (6.8mL/L), K2HPO4 (3.72mL/L), and MgSO4•7H2O (6.52mL/L). In these conditions, the experimental DCW of Scenedesmus sp. was 0.784 g/L, which was close to the predicted value (0.787 g/L)(Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
