Abstract. Forest Concept’s engineering team completed fabrication of a pilot scale prototype low energy rotary shear comminution machine, the Crumbler™ M24. Subsequently, various biomass materials including wood veneer, wood chips, and corn stover were processed through the machine to validate throughput and particle characteristics. Economic impacts of using this machine and process are briefly discussed.
