Abstract: It was difficult to trench a ditch for seeding as the soil strength of the leymus chinensis grassland was too big. It was very hard for the traditional double disk furrow opener to cut into the soil. For the arrow shovel furrow opener , it would damage the soil and vegetation as it would tear the root of the grass in the subsurface. The casting–furrow opener discussed in this paper effectively overcomed the above difficulties by making use of the ditch formed by cutting the root of the leymus chinensis grassland. As the principle of the casting–furrow opener was that the casting –furrow opener was put into the formed ditch, and then the opener dug the soil of the both sides of the ditch. This paper built the model of the soil by the DEM (distinct element method), and the model of the casting–furrow opener by finite element method, analysized and simulated the character of the stress and strain during the process of the contact between the soil and the casting –furrow based on the software of ANSYS. The result and the conclusion from the paper laid a theoretical foundation for the determination of the parameters and the optimization of the casting –furrow opener.
