Abstract. Loading condition and material properties are important factors when analyzing the structures. In general, deterministic value of load and material properties are applied when designing a structure. However, such deterministic approach cannot consider uncertainties of load and material properties in the real world. Especially loading condition of sluice gates fluctuation is huge due to tidal effect. Thus this study investigated uncertainty of sluice gate’s loading condition to determine reasonable design load based on the stochastic method. And probability of failure and limit state was calculated by reliability theory. In order to consider fluctuation of loading condition, we used the time of field survey 28 days Data for exterior water level and level water balance analysis result for interior water level, and assumed as normal distribution. Since the difference of water level act as loading condition, convolution was used to produce probability graph of loading condition. Level II theory was applied to determine limit state and failure probability and the result showed that confidence index is 5.223 and destruction probability was 88.8*10^8.
