Abstract. Fertigation has become a technique commonly used in greenhouses and open field where drip irrigation is used. Normally fertigation systems require of controlling pH and electrical conductivity (EC) in order to suit plants demand. However, if the liquid solution is poorly prepared the electrical conductivity required by the plants will not be reached by the controller. As it has been found to be a common problem a new system was developed, dosifying solid fertilizers to the nutrient tanks. The system moves worm gears to apply the dust fertilizers towards a weighting scale. The load cell weights the fertilizer and when it reaches the set point, it is blown to the tank. A microcontroller is used to weight each of the four fertilizers and mix them to obtain the right nutrient concentration. Tanks can be smaller and nutrient solutions could be prepared daily. EC measurements varied Â±3% with the dosing controller.
