Abstract. Design details, structural calculations and a step-by-step installation procedure are provided for a wood pier foundation system that can be used to support a hoop house or similar structure with tubular steel frames. The design incorporates the ability to rapidly install below-grade insulation. Structural calculations include design resistances values for uplift, bearing, and laterally-applied forces. The installation procedure is accompanied by several images of the system being installed for a 30- by 72-foot high tunnel.
