Research on Application of Wireless Detecting Networks in Aquaculture

Abstract.

With the rapid development of piscatorial economy in the world, intensive aquaculture has gradually become the main breeding, and creating a nice living environment for aquatic product is absolutely crucial to realize highly efficient aquaculture, so it is necessary to detect important parameters for water quality, such as dissolved oxygen, PH and temperature. The existing monitoring and communication technologies based on wired communication mode, are widely applied to aquaculture domain. Even so, there are some shortcomings that wiring is very difficult and cost is quite high, which has restricted the further development of intensive aquaculture. So applying the wireless sensor networks to multi-parameter water monitoring in the aquaculture fields adapts to the development of large-scale aquaculture. The paper puts forward an overall structure of wireless monitoring system based on Zigbee technology,according to the detecting fields of intensive aquaculture, which is made up by several sensor nodes, coordinator notes and a supervising and controlling centre. The experimental results show that the wireless detecting system realizes dissolved oxygen, PH and temperature multi-parameter real-time measurement along with high testing precision and communication reliability, has the properties of self-recovery, self-organizing and self-adapting. Therefore the application prospect is very wide.
