Air-jet has been extensively studied due to their importance in mechanical ventilation systems. Less of the jet behavior in ceiling slot-ventilated enclosure was studied because of the complexity with the effect of opposite wall. The study was to investigate airflow performance of air-jet in ceiling slot-ventilated enclosure under isothermal condition experimentally. Airspeed field measurement and airflow trajectory visualization were proceeded in scale-model. Centerline velocity decay, airspeed profiles, jet penetration on the ceiling, jet impingement on the floor, airflow pattern, and airspeed of animal occupied zone were analyzed from experimental data and compared with theoretical expressions of literatures. Semi-empirical equations were established to describe the performance of air-jet. Analysis of airflow characteristics progresses in the prediction of an isothermal air-jet performance in ceiling slot- ventilated enclosure, and suggests design guidelines of ventilation system for controlling a bio- environmental enclosure.(Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
