Experimental Study on Cutting and Chopping Corn Straw with Different Moisture ContentPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: 2012 Dallas, Texas, July 29 - August 1, 2012 121341137.(doi:10.13031/2013.42063)Authors: Hongfang Yuan, Decheng Wang, Guanghui Wang, Zuoli Fu, Sangni Cai, Fang Liang Keywords: Straw, Cutting, Chopping, Orthogonal test, Processing machine The corn straws processed by chopping machine could increase diet digestibility and utilization. At present, the most of cutting and chopping machine were small in China, which cannot satisfy the requirement of production due to their high power consumption and low productivity. In order to evaluate the effects of structure parameters of chopping machine on power and the broken rate of straws, experiments were conducted in a device which was designed for cutting and chopping corn straw. Variables in this study included cutting edge shape(A), feed speed(B), number of hammers(C) and rotor speed(D), the broken rate of straws and energy consumption were chose as evaluation index, and the samples are corn straws with different moisture content (56%~60% and 73%~77%). The orthogonal test method was used in this experiment to get the similar results as the completely randomized experiments. This study would provide some advices to design corn straw cutting and chopping machine with high performance. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
