This study investigated the effects of sediment traps connected to the outlet of VFS systems. 4 sediment traps were installed in an upland field to evaluate effects of management of non-point source pollutions. Various sizes of sediment traps were applied to experiment the infiltration effects and solid particle removals with other agricultural nonpoint source pollutants through water quality monitoring. The characteristics of deposited soil were also analyzed including distribution of particle size, soil texture, and chemical properties. The results show that slightly different composition of soil particle size from each sediment trap with high proportion between 0.15mm and 0.25mm of particle diameters, and the loamy sand or sandy loam are the main types of soils. The chemical properties showed results for strong correlations with effectiveness of the connected VFS systems. The degree of non-point source pollutions were also showed decreased values due to detention effects of the sediment traps.
