Combined Microwave-fluidized Bed Drying of Moist Granular Particles: CFD Modeling and Validation

In the present study the drying behavior of moist spherical particles in a pilot-scale microwave-assisted fluidized bed dryer was modeled. The Eulerian multiphase model was used to simulate the hydrodynamics of fluidized bed within the framework of the commercial CFD package, Fluent 6.3.26. To expand the ability of Fluent to simulate the drying process, a C source code was written and attached to the software. The simulated results compared with some experimental data and found to have a reasonable accuracy.
