Two important parameters when modeling shuttle shifts are the slope the vehicle is on and the vehicles motion resistance.1 Slope is easy enough to measure and motion resistance for many surfaces is provided in the literature. Modeling shuttle shifting of a silage packing tractor on a silage pile, however, begs two questions: What is the motion resistance of a tractor on silage and does motion resistance change with slope?
