Assessment of Agricultural Safety and Health Curriculum Available to Post Secondary Students

With the increased attention to safe work practices in production agriculture by private industry and several U.S. government agencies, questions can be raised about higher educations role in providing safety and health coursework to prepare graduates on core occupational competencies. The purpose of this study is to determine and describe the type of coursework offered at higher education institutions, specifically those with land grant status. Thirty responses were received and included 43% of universities indicating they had courses and 57% that did not offer courses specific to agricultural specific safety and health.
