Analysis of alternative ventilation system designs for a pigsty: A comparative literature reviewPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: 2012 IX International Livestock Environment Symposium (ILES IX) ILES12-2174.(doi:10.13031/2013.41605)Authors: Viktorija Zagorska Keywords: ventilation system; pigsty; ground channel; additional deep pit; High Rise Effective ventilation systems in pigsties play a vital role in the pig industry. This paper provides a critical literature review of academic texts related to alternative ventilation systems in a pigsty. The aim of the critical literature review was to discover the most promising pig farrowing ventilation system design for Latvian climatic conditions, using available data. It was found that an additional deep pit ventilation system was the most promising design. It would be useful to see at CFD level how the additional deep pit ventilation system works in a pig farrowing room at Latvian climatic conditions. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
