Environmental Quality Monitoring System of Producing Area for Green Agro-products based on Wireless Sensor NetworkPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: 2011 Louisville, Kentucky, August 7-10, 2011 1110830.(doi:10.13031/2013.37331)Authors: Siyu Li, Hongju Gao Keywords: environmental quality monitoring, green agro-products, wireless sensor network Recently, farm product safety becomes the hot spot of society and is closely related to health condition of human beings. In this paper, an environmental quality monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is design to acquire the producing area information at any time during the whole growth period, to improve the production of green agro-products, implement standardized management and ensure the farm products reaching the safety standard. JN5139, an IEEE 802.15.4/Zigbee wireless module and S3C2410, an ARM9 processer platform are utilized to form the wireless monitoring network. In addition, MC55, a GPRS module, is integrated into the sink node to send the information to the remote data management platform. The system operates stably and reliably and the result of tests in wheat field gives the optimal antenna height of nodes when deployed in a practical agricultural environment.
