It will begin with a brief discussion of the history of center pivot irrigation, focused on the original drivers for the center pivot and changes that have occurred over the last thirty years. Then the discussion will move to look at todays center pivot irrigation equipment features / benefits and limitations. Next, the paper will explore what are believed to be the trends and needs in irrigation for the next ten years and how center pivots will address the needs farmers want and require. In addition, material will be presented to how center pivots are addressing the need to conserve resources while providing food for the world.
