Microbial transport models are crucial for evaluating manure application effects on bacteria concentrations in streams and ponds adjacent to agricultural land. The objectives of this work were: (i) to develop and calibrate an event-based add-on module that describes manure-borne bacteria transport with runoff at a field scale; and (ii) to characterize the effects of initial bacteria distributions across the fields on the model predictions.
