Impact Energy of Water Droplets from Irrigation SprinklersPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Transactions of the ASAE. 25 (1): 0130-0133. (doi: 10.13031/2013.33491) @1982Authors: R. T. Stillmunkes, L. G. James Keywords: ABSTRACT IT is reported in the literature that soil surface sealing is directly related to the kinetic energy/area (KE/a) of water droplets impacting the soil surface. An equation was derived that relates KE/a to application depth (ex-posure time X application rate) and the vertical velocity at impact of a characteristic droplet size. A sensitivity analysis was performed on this equation to determine the relative importance of the variables involved in determin-ing KE/a. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
