A research on the impacts of both wind and water erosion on soil fertility is being carried out in a sub-catchment
of the Katchari catchment (northern Burkina Faso). At three different morphological units (a valley
floor, a dune and a gravel crust), measurements on wind and water erosion are conducted. At each field
Modified Wilson and Cook samplers, saltiphones and runoff plots are installed. Rainfall simulations
demonstrate that the soils are highly vulnerable to crust development, which reduces the infiltration.
