The drying characteristics of wheat-based distillers grains were studied under three methods: forced-air drying, microwave drying and microwave-convective drying. Wet distillers grains with solubles, obtained from a southern Saskatchewan ethanol plant, were dried to a moisture content of about 8% (wet basis). For forced air drying, drying air temperature was set at three levels (40, 80, and 120C), maintaining air velocity and relative humidity at 0.7 0.8 m/s and less than 7%, respectively. For microwave drying, power level was set at low (P4), medium (P7) and high (P10). In microwave-convective drying, only one setting was used (Combination 1), with operating condition set at 130C oven temperature and 30% power.
