In areas where sugarcane is harvested manually, a simple, efficient, and less complicated mechanical aid is desirable. The objective of this research was to determine the operating characteristics of a revolving knife-type sugarcane basecutter that will minimize energy inputs. A blade peripheral velocity of 13.8 mps, an oblique angle of 35 and tilt angle of 278 were found to be appropriate.
