A harvester for guayule, Parthenium argentatum, seed was designed and field tested. As the machine moves along the plant row, vertically oriented rods strike the branches and dislodge seeds while a series of movable plates form a surface to catch the seeds. Field tests indicated an average of 15% more seed per hectare was harvested with this machine than with a previous design. Based on the test results, further investigation and development for other crops would appear warranted.
