SEVEN applicator knives for placement of high rates of granular fertilizer to the sides of the drill were evaluated for use in a strip-till, multiple cropping cultural system. Backward-swept knives required more force, both vertical and horizontal, but caused significantly less soil disturbance than did forward-curved knives.
