Mission Data Acquisition for Agricultural AircraftPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Applied Engineering in Agriculture. 5(3): 431-435. (doi: 10.13031/2013.26540) @1989Authors: R. W. Whitney, T. Kaczynski Keywords: Aerial application, Automation, Data management, Record keeping A data acquisition system was developed to measure pertinent agricultural aircraft mission parameters including boom pressure, chemical flow, air temperature, air speed and real time. Custom software was used to interpret the collected data into useable form. Potential uses of such a system for management and record keeping were identified, including the use of onboard temperature measurement data for detecting local field inversions and pressure-flow data for identifying spray system leaks and nozzle orifice wear.
