Over 26 million homes, businesses and other buildings in the United States (U.S.) are served by decentralized wastewater systems, most of which include a septic tank, grease trap, or both for primary treatment. These are efficient, simple treatment units whose performance is critically important to the overall functioning of decentralized wastewater systems.
