This paper describes the design process and results of four pilot projects on CAFO beef feedlots in Iowa using vegetative treatment systems as an alternative to conventional runoff basins with irrigation. These pilot projects are being monitored for performance by Iowa State University researchers. Design parameters and processes are described as well as some of the preliminary results of the first year’s monitoring program.
