Reliability test on water quality and distribution network of two selected dams in Ondo state were investigated. Owena River Dam and the Federal College of Agriculture Dam were used as case studies. It was established that water requirements for agriculture, domestic and livestock in the study area amount to 72 million cubic metres for year 2000 and projected 137 million cubic metres for year 2030. The guideline values for hardness at 500 mg/litre as (CaCO3) was based on taste and household consideration. At pH 7.0 and below, hydrogen sulphide predominates, dissociation into odourless ions in more alkaline. Coliform organism was not detectable in 95% of the routine samples examined. Considering the semi-humid nature of the state and also the meager financial resources at the disposal of the state water Authority, there is the need for International Organisation like UNDP, UNESCO, the World Bank and etc. to increase the level of assistance. Their past and present assistance have no doubt improved the water supply and this level of assistance need to be increased to match with our present and future needs.
