Well-matched tractor-implement combinations are needed to maintain high operating efficiencies in farming systems. The objective of this study is to develop and demonstrate the use of a spreadsheet for matching tractors and implements. The spreadsheet was based on the Brixius Model and ASABE Standard D497.5 to predict tractor performance and implement draft, respectively. Two sets of examples were selected to demonstrate the use of a spreadsheet to match tractors with implements and implements with tractors. Examples included three tractors of different power levels and configurations, three implements, and three soil types. The results show that the spreadsheet can be used effectively to match implements with tractors or vice versa. Optimization of weight distribution and inflation pressures for maximum power delivery efficiency, and computation of field capacity and fuel consumption of the systems selected are also possible with the use of spreadsheet.
