Over the past decades, a number of studies have been conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of Best Management Practices (BMPs) and their positive roles in soil and water conservation to meet water quality standards such as TMDL. Hydrologic models are frequently used to estimate the impact of BMPs. Representing the characteristics of BMPs as close to its physical conditions and functional design are the key to any process-based modeling approach. There are, however, not many studies to validate the BMP parameter setting and effectiveness at the BMP scale. A long-term assessment of BMP effectiveness is of great interest to analyze their design life time and failure of BMPs in different conditions.
