The BiovatorTM composter is basically a long rotating drum built to operate as an in-vessel composter. It operates on a continuous flow basis with daily addition of mortalities. This system is currently used across Canada on swine production units. The main objectives of the project were to optimize the composting process mix ratio and to validate the disinfection potential with regard to pathogens and bacteria.
