The program of research on ARIS in China belongs to the National 948 Program that is to introduce foreign advanced technology. The Chinese experts have cooperated with experts from the ISNAR, CABI, FAO, IRRI, and other international organizations, to conduct investigations of system comparison, introduce the advanced ARIS system analysis technology, method and construction program from abroad and put forward preliminary construction program suitable for the national conditions in China. Meanwhile, we have closely promoted the construction of ARIS in China by combining networking and digitalization construction of ARIS in China and produced effective role in practice.

ARIS consists of four sub-systems: information resources sub-system; database sub-system; network sub-system as well as a management system. The information resources of this system are mainly divided 5 categories; network sub-system include LAN and National networking system.

The 3 objectives of the ARIS system in China: making the research and management staff be capable to rapidly access to the needed information; improving the capacity of search, access and management of relevant information related to their objectives and tasks for research institutions; and establishing rapid channel of high-efficient and convenient information exchange.
