The details about the Aqua choupal Model of the Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) are presented in this paper. The case study explains how ITC is using information and communication technologies (ICTs) to identify solutions to export oriented problems of the Indian shrimps, by keeping track of the entire supply chain including quality and origins of the shrimps.

The project, which is being developed, is made up of three components: (1) Aqua care center provides solutions to the problems of shrimp farmers related to testing the seed quality. (2) Sixty Aqua choupals are deployed around the coastal belt. These choupals provide market prices of shrimps and other useful information on aquaculture to the farmers. (3) Traceability mechanism in processing units intends to solve the export-oriented problems.
