For the past few years, IFAS-IT at the University of Florida has developed a set of taskspecific web-based applications for the USDAs Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program. These applications were created to meet the needs of SAREs audience, a group of producers, educators, and researchers distributed across the US, and scalability has always been a key programming concern. In order to meet the current needs of their users, the SARE web applications need to be made more easily accessible, provide more relevant information, and encourage more users to participate in knowledgesharing. To reach this goal, the formerly separate applications are being combined with a set of newly designed applications into a single dynamic content system. Despite planned extensibility, extensive planning and program adaptation have been required to allow for this integration.
