Phytobiological information on plants and soils is useful in order to optimize mechanized and sustainable agricultural systems. In this section, promising image-sensing techniques for obtaining phytobiological information are briefly introduced, and the concept of a phytobiological information system (PIS) for plant production and sustainable agriculture is described.
