1.0 Introduction. On today's farms, quick action couplings provide the vital hydraulic connection between the tractor's hydraulic system and the implements attached to the tractor. This is but one of the many applications for quick action couplings and will be the major application addressed by this paper. I shall attempt to familiarize the reader with quick action couplings and their applications, some history of their use on farm tractors, their evolution in use on farm tractors, and factors to consider when selecting them.
