Human Factors Engineering means engineering the product to fit the user rather than the other way round! It requires knowledge of anthropometry, biology, bio-mechanics, physiology, behavioral psychology and access to research on human reaction to machines, to products and to other people.

The scope of the subject is too broad to cover in this paper, so I have chosen to concentrate on those areas of human factors that will be of most use to you as engineers who design farm and industrial machinery - namely, anthropometry, bio-mechanics and behavioral psychology.
