A low cost guidance system is being developed for small agricultural vehicles (such as allterrain vehicles ATVs) to allow autonomous operation and automated soil sampling. The system uses a PDA, slot card GPS, microcontroller, and various actuators to provide autonomous operation of the ATV. Advantages of the system are that fields can quickly be reduced to sampling points and then sampled automatically.
