Development of an Inexpensive Autonomous Guidance SystemPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Paper number 051139, 2005 ASAE Annual Meeting . (doi: 10.13031/2013.19794) @2005Authors: Randy R. Price, Goutam Nistala Keywords: Guidance, autonomous, automatic guidance, PDA, GPS, ATV, soil sampler A low cost guidance system is being developed for small agricultural vehicles (such as allterrain vehicles ATVs) to allow autonomous operation and automated soil sampling. The system uses a PDA, slot card GPS, microcontroller, and various actuators to provide autonomous operation of the ATV. Advantages of the system are that fields can quickly be reduced to sampling points and then sampled automatically. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
