Efficiency of a Bioscrubber System for the Reduction of Ammonia and Dust Emissions in a Broiler HousePublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Paper number 054164, 2005 ASAE Annual Meeting . (doi: 10.13031/2013.19519) @2005Authors: R. Kosch, V. Siemers, H. Van den Weghe Keywords: Emission, ammonia, dust, bioscrubber, air cleaning
A bioscrubber for cleaning exhaust air was used in a building housing 30,000 broilers. The
bioscrubber system was enhanced to perform at a higher level of efficiency to reduce emissions in
consideration of the huge amounts of airflow in poultry production. With regard to pressure, one
synthetic filter bank was deployed in a first step. The structure of the filter bank allows a high air flow
rate with a low back pressure.
