The purpose of this study was to develop storage management model for effective operation of small dams. To make storage management model easy to use in the field, the model was developed with the Object Oriented Program (OOP) technique. Since the model is a windows based with a user interface it is an advantage for users to easily enter the input data and access the output. This model manages data for hydrologic analysis and storage management through a database. A Model consists of basin water balance model and the Storage Management Model (STMM) during the flood and the non-flood period.

This model was applied to the Seongju basin (1998-2002) in Korea. The results show that STMM was reasonable regarding efficiency and coefficient determination for the non-flood period. The model was still applicable in the flood period under the extreme weather conditions with typhoon events, Rusa in 2002 and Maemi in 2003. The study suggests that STMM is an efficient tool to manage small dams.
