EVALUATION OF THE EVAPORATIVE COOLING USAGE POTENTIAL FOR THE SOUTHEAST REGION OF BRAZIL WITH A SIMPLIFIED MODEL FOR THE ESTIMATION OF THE ENERGY BALANCE IN SHEDS FOR BROILER CHICKENSPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Proceedings of the Seventh International Symposium, 18-20 May 2005 (Beijing, China) Publication Date 18 May 2005 701P0205.(doi:10.13031/2013.18359)Authors: Mariano Pereira Silva, Fernando da Costa Baêta, Ilda de Fátima Ferreira Tinôco, Sérgio Zolnier, Aristides Ribeiro Keywords: Mathematics model, chicken production, evaporative cooling, GIS The advances in the geographic information systems (GIS) and the greater availability of the meteorological data permit the studying of systems of artificial conditioning of the environment according to the climatic conditions of each region. The simulation of the poultry sheds thermal behavior with and without Adiabatic Evaporative Cooling (SRAE) allow the decision makers to evaluate the economical viability and the installation costs of a poultry production enterprise. The general objective of this research was to evaluate the thermal environmental conditions of bird raising, based on daily climatic data, as a way of previewing chicken production loss caused by inadequate technical installations.
