TRANSPORTABLE REFRIGERATED SAMPLERS FOR PROPER SAMPLE PRESERVATION IN PORTABLE APPLICATIONSPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Watershed Management to Meet Water Quality Standards and Emerging TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) Proceedings of the Third Conference 5-9 March 2005 (Atlanta, Georgia USA) Publication Date 5 March 2005 701P0105.(doi:10.13031/2013.18106)Authors: Angel Luke Keywords: Samplers, water samplers, refrigerated sampling, TMDL monitoring, stormwater sampler, stormwater monitoring, Isco, sample preservation
Proper sample preservation in temporary or remote applications is very difficult to achieve
without incurring costs to wire in AC power or to visit the sites frequently. Many watershed
assessment projects are prolonged or compromised because samples are not preserved properly.
Improperly preserved samples should be discarded, but may also end up in the lab resulting in
either wasted analytical time and cost, or faulty data.
