With the deployment of the weather surveillance radar 1988 Doppler radars, an increasingly volume of precipitation data with high spatial and temporal resolution have become available for hydrologic modeling. We are investigating how to effectively use these data to enhance river water quality assessments. Our objective is the SWAT model, used with this data to simulate runoff and nutrient loads in the Illinois River watershed, south of Siloam Springs, in Arkansas. This paper reports preliminary results of the simulated runoff, nitrogen and phosphorus loading.
