The effect of soil crush by tillage must be monitored in order to ensure sound growth of the crop and stabilized crop yield, since physical soil environment should be kept to the optimum condition.
The goal of this study is to develop a technology, which obtains soil clod fineness during rotary tillage. We have developed a surface irregularity measuring system, which is based on non-contact and non-destructive measurement by using a laser displacement sensor. In our previous study, the estimation of soil clod fineness by using irregularity data has become possible, since a relationship between the soil surface irregularity data that obtained by the irregularity measuring system and soil clod fineness by sieve method has been clarified.
In the case of onboard measurement, the accurate measurement can be carried out, by catching as many irregularity data as possible. Then, the measuring system was modified in order to raise the data acquisition efficiency using the polygon mirror. A simple experiment to get a relation between irregularity data and soil clod fineness by using modified system was performed. The result showed that there was no effect of the modification to obtained data.
