BEHAVIOR OF GREENHOUSE FOUNDATIONS SUBJECTED TO UPLIFT LOADSPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Transactions of the ASAE. 47(5): 1651-1657. (doi: 10.13031/2013.17607) @2004Authors: A. Peña, D. L. Valera, F. Pérez, J. Ayuso, J. Pérez Keywords: Greenhouses, Failure surface, Finite, Uplift In this article, we report a study of the field behavior of various types of concrete foundations used in greenhouses in Almera, Spain. The relationship between foundation displacement and maximum uplift load was evaluated in terms of the effects of the depth of the foundation, the diameter of the foundation base, and the geometry of the failure surface. The results of the field trial are compared with results from simulation studies using finite element analysis and from the use of empirical formulae. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
