The development of a new stream design handbook is presently underway. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is developing this guide as part of their National Engineering Handbook. Over 100 authors and reviewers have volunteered their time to produce the source materials for this design guide. These authors represent other Federal, State, and local agencies, universities, and private engineering firms, as well as, many NRCS employees. This pool of active volunteers represents all parts of the country, and their contributions will provide a collection of regionally sensitive design tools. The individual source documents will be synthesized into a comprehensive design handbook. A first draft of this document is scheduled for completion in 2005.
