In a typical pharmaceutical industry, powder compression is a key unit operation in order to develop solid oral dosage forms such as tablets. Significant research emphasis is placed on understanding, measuring, and controlling the behavior of powders undergoing compression. This review paper aims at highlighting the various concepts of powder compression, tablet design, and process development. This information could prove to be useful to agricultural and biological engineering graduates who wish to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
