Experimental treatment systems are under evaluation at the University of California, Davis campus wastewater treatment facility. Four types of treatment systems, including a septic tank, recirculating synthetic media trickling biofilters, and aerated submerged attached growth reactors with and without bioaugmentation. The resulting effluent from these systems is being applied to leachfield test cells, soil lysimeters, and to a drip irrigation system to characterize the effect of pretreatment on effluent reuse and the performance of drip systems used for effluent dispersal.
