A subset of best management practices (BMPs) in the Black Creek watershed implemented in the late 1970s was evaluated to determine their current condition. Grassed waterways, grade stabilization structures, field borders and parallel terraces were evaluated using a newly developed evaluation tool that computes the current condition of the practice based on physical inspection and comparisons to as-built design parameters. This paper presents the steps taken to conduct the evaluations for grassed waterways and the evaluation results, which provide an indication of the long-term impact grassed waterways have had on the water quality in the watershed.
